Skunk Canyon area

South Boulder
Fairyland (pre skunk canyon)
Directions: Just south of Dartmouth there is a dirt trail that leads past NOAA to a small trail that leads west to some big rocks and a small creek. Kids love playing at the tunnel that is pretty close to the beginning and walking by the creek. As you go further down the trail you will come to several junctions and if you take a left each time you will end up in “Fairyland”. On the way there look out for lots of prairie dog villages and if you’re lucky you might spy a coyote, though I’ve never seen a skunk here!!!

Upper Skunk Canyon:
Directions: To reach this area, head west on Dartmouth road from Broadway. Dartmouth can be followed to the Kohler reservoir or you can head south, then west on Kohler Drive and park where Kohler drive meets Deer Valley Road. A trailhead starts where Deer Valley road ends at this point.
Mesa Trail Intersection
Skunk Canyon can also be accessed from Mesa Trail between the Chautauqua and NCAR trail areas.
Take this trail N and follow the trail that curves to the W. At the first intersection go N (right) until you get to the top where there is shade, beautiful views, and rocks to play on.
